A local surfer is super stoked at taking on the expected second wave of Covid-19.
Keanu Swash (22), who is prone to confusion, said that every surfer spent a lifetime chasing their ultimate wave and this one could be his.
“After spending so long in lockdown, it’s been great to get back on the board, but there’s been no real buzz, no great surf.”
Swash heard about the second wave through the local grapevine, and has grown excited as awareness of it has grown.
“The other guys kept talking about this mythical second wave, this ultimate high. I was sceptical, but now I see all the news dudes talking about it. It’s starting to feel real.”
Swash has taken to visiting the beach multiple times a day to keep an eye out for the fabled second wave and is even wearing his wetsuit to bed, should the call come in the dead of night.
“I don’t want to miss this one, man,” he said. “I’ve got cameras rigged up at the beach and I’ve downloaded this Covid Tracker app that will notify me when the second wave hits.”
Friends of the surfer have expressed concern at his levels of delusion, but it appears Swash will not be deterred from his ultimate thrill.
